I was just thinking of the benefits of taking a bike with you while doing OTR, and wonder if anyone is doing it? In addition to the obvious health benefits, it might make it easier to scout out an unfamiliar location, or find a container at a rail/port, or go get something to eat beyond what the truckstop offers. Also a good "boredom fighter" during resets or off-duty periods.

Never seen a bike rack mounted over the front bumper, does anyone do that or keep one up on the catwalk?

I've seen them mounted both ways, and stuffed into the passenger seat. My carrier encourages us to stay fit, so bike racks and collapsible trail bikes are carried in the company store.

I've seen bikes mounted on the nose of trucks, behind the sleeper, and secured to flatbeds, you get allot of drivers telling you "there's no time to exercise", but there is time, I will not speed every waking moment behind the wheel of a truck, I like my down time, if you need to be rolling every minute you can to make a living? Maybe your in the wrong business?, I bought a jump rope, and do calisthenics, stretching, sit ups, push ups, pulls the extra work I need to do to secure and tarp loads also helps

I'd be the last person to intentionally exercise but, it just seems to me that there are a lot of practical reasons to bring a bike along.

Make sure your truck fenders are on properly if you're going to put the bike behind the cab; a bike chain full of salt and sand won't do you much good.

My old K100 had a back door, so I just bolted a small axle stand in the rear sleeper, and sucked it down with a few bungees. Probably could have gotten away with hanging it from some hooks in the roof mounted to the A/C brackets.
