Hi, my question is what is the best way to start after buying a used truck
1- start with a big backup lump of money and hope for the best
2- put the truck in a shop for a detailed checkup for mechanical and electrical problems and fix any potentially problems but start with less backup money
The advantage I think is in the second situation being less prone to break down
What do you guys think?

Both. The seller should provide a truck ready to run unless you get a tremendous discount. Like, free.

Always have a truck checked mechanically before buying it let alone before putting it to use

Problems can still surface after you buy the truck and can cost some sizable money to keep it on the road. If you have good credit and some good credit lines, you can handle what ever surfaces that way, but it's much better if you have at least $10,000 set aside for emergencies.

In my opinion as the others stated already, have the Truck inspected before you buy it and if it checks out OK, then start with $10,000 in an account in case something needs fixing, later on and every month add a percentage of your gross in that account for major problems.

Dino. the truck away from where you are buying it, also have the shop give it a yearly insp. if it passes the blow/by an HP part of dino?

your staying a 06/07. if you have a good amount of money to start with, I say don't buy over a 03. then you don't have to deal with emissions. there are good old trucks out there. drop 10/15k into it and make it a better old truck. in the long run it will treat you better then the junk form 04 and up. keep it simple. don't worry about the bells and whistles.
