Do you have to register your own company when you sign on with Landstar ?
Do you need a EIN# & Business license or a DBA To operate with them?
Also a plates question, how's that work if anyone knows?
After the trucks inspected , how do you go about getting your base plates from them?
Do you get them at orientation when you go to get your trailer? If So, I assume you just ride down there with your temp plate and get setup down there in Reno?
All things my recruiter can tell me yes I know, just haven't heard back from them in a while

No you don't need to register your own business. No EIN needed you can use your SS# if you don't have an EIN and don't need DBA
You'll get your temp registration and all the things you need overnighted to you once you have passed qualification.spectacle13, blairandgretchen and OONewbie Thank this. -
As far as the EIN you can do it online with the IRS. You will need one when you file and pay your HVUT 2290.

You can also run your own plates with Landstar if you like.

I've been with Landstar a long time, but I'm with Inway Heavy Haul.I'm semi retired now,and run less than 10k miles a year.Probably can't give you too much helpful advice, but if you keep your inspections up,and required paperwork done, like logs and maintenance reports, they will leave you alone. As good as operation as I've ever been leased to in the past 40 years, just made a lot more money years ago, before all this brokering BS.Can't blame Landstar for the woes of the industry.Good luck to you,and if you have any specific questions about Landstar,I'll try to help.

I'm not sure how much the 5 axle plates are,I think $1850.?I have an increased weight tag,as I run a six axle combo RGN.There' a bunch of states that require increased fees on the tag to run heavy permit loads, over 80k.My tag with the increased weights is $1975.

Truck tags for me run $1650/year thru Landstar
