Does anyone have experience with a good company to lease on with in New Mexico ? I live in Albuquerque and it seems there is little to no freight coming and going out of this city or so I have been told by a few companies I have talked with. Seems to be freight coming through the state but little to none departing or landing. Any input would be helpful. Thanks

Thanks Chinatown, I'll check them out. If anyone has any other suggestions, they would be appreciated. Anyone have any comments or experience with HVH Transportation out of Denver or Bruce Oakley Trucking out of Arkansas ?

I've heard good things about Mesilla Valley Transportation in Las Cruces NM - based on a few conversations with some of their drivers.

Not sure what you consider a good lease"?. But i lived in las cruces over 20 years. Not much in the way of companies to lease to if you want to make descent money. I moved out of the state. But true very little freight originating and terminating in the state, most of it very cheap.. Good pass thru state

I'll take a look at Mesilla Valley Transportation as well, I see their trucks running around quite a bit. I know the freight doesn't pay that well coming in and out but I've had a few companies tell me I could lease on with them but would basically have to dead head in and out of the state much of the time, don't seem like any money to be made doing that, at the least it's going to cut into the profit margin. I considered leasing on with Schneider Choice as I like the load board program but I would have to deadhead in and out of El Paso to make that work, 280 miles each way, no thanks. Looked at Mercer's load board and nothing happening their either. Considered Landstar but am guessing its going to be the same with them. It seemed as though Bruce Oakley Trucking may not be a bad option until I found out that want 10K to put a vacuum pump on my truck for dry bulk. Just seems like their must be at least one decent company somewhere in this state.

There used to be a company in Las Crusces called Triple "d" Supply, I think. (not 100% sure of the name) They were flatbed but moved into reefers some years back. I believe they're still in business. There are outbound loads of lumber around Espinola area. You may have to re-think your feelings about El Paso companies to lease on to.

Thanks for the input, I'll check into Triple D. There is a small O/O operation here in Albuquerque called Fifth Wheel Transportation. They have a location here in Albuquerque and in Midlothian, Texas. Can't seem to find anyone who knows anything about them. Their website is http://www.fifthwheeltransportation.com/ has anyone ever heard anything about these guys ?

Contact Don Boyer, Safety Manager or Rick Coats, Owner of LRC Trucking out of Albuquerque. They are a smaller refrigerated company and real good guys. Rick is a past president of the NM Trucking Association and I was on the Safety Management Council of the NM Trucking Association with Don in 2012-13. Last I knew they hired owner operators and are very committed to the trucking industry.

Great information, thank you. I've seen their posts on craigslist for drivers, didn't realize they hire owner operators. I'll check into them.
