I'm buying a used truck with a Cat C-12 with 500k miles on it. I plan on running about 1800 miles a week. I'm estimating on the high side for fuel costs (75cpm). I'm curious as to what other O/O's put back per mile or per week for future repairs/tires/brakes.
Thanks.
How much do you save per week or per mile for repairs, upgrades, tires, etc...?

I'd say a minimum of 12,000 a year. I spend more but I'm fussy about little things. You can do the math from there.

I budget $1,000 per month. Some guys I know budget $800. My figure includes all maintenance, repairs and tires.
My last truck pulling five axles totalled $66,000 over six years, including a $18,000 in-frame and $5,600 for a front differential. -
75cpm is insanely high on the fuel cost!
I tend to do the budgeting differently. At the end of each week I allow myself 150 to do whatever needs to be done (bills/food/beer/etc...) and keep the remainder in the bank for the truck. It has worked well for me this way.blairandgretchen and rollin coal Thank this. -
My fuel cost is $1.04 per mile, but I gross $3.20 per mile at 140,000 lbs. 75 cpm my be fine for his operation.

Similar to others, I put away $1100 a month. Just keep in mind, you can never have too much. If the account gets higher than what you expect you'll need, you can always transfer some to another account. Like most other things in life. If a little is good, too much is just enough.

I put 10% of the truck gross back every week. In my case usually between $400-$700 per week. Seems to do good.
flood Thanks this.
