08s weren't the best years for trucks. Apart from that, get the truck on a dyno, oil sample, check blow by, and get a mechanic to look at it after you see and drive the truck, if you aren't good with trucks. If the truck was as described and you like it, get a mechanic to look at and give you their opinion. Also, check what it needs to be dot legal. Then after that and you still want it, find a good local shop and place to get parts. Also what motor does it have.

Honestly, if you can I would pre emission, at least 07 and older but preferably 03 and older. You can check the fault codes and do some research on those things you mentioned, and possibly ask a mechanic. The thing is, the Volvo motors have to be taken to Volvo shops and are pain to fix due to high cost and waiting on parts. I strongly urge paying the 100 or whatever bucks to have a mechanic look at it. It will save you money later. If you have a friend, buy him his favorite bottle of whatever and ask him to look at it. You can u use the truck for the heavy stuff, but she will be slow and under powered. I would want at least 500 horsepower and a 13. If you want to buy it after that, offer 17-18 cash if possible and go from there. Good luck.

DON"T buy it......I have a 08 Volvo along with a few o/o that I work with. Money pits. Expensive parts and repairs. I've dumped about $60k into mine in the last two years.Thats not even touching the motor. Huge dpf problems, egr problems, the list goes on and on......
