Today I received an E-mail request from Internet Truckstop for an insurance certificate. I am a intrastate carrier only. They said in the E-mail that if I did not respond to this request that my Internet Truckstop subscription would be terminated. I inquired as to why they needed an insurance certificate for me to look at their load board. I was told that it was simply required. I told them to close my account and refund my money. Several hours later they called and said never mind.

Any one else get this notice? Why would they need my info, other then to resale it?

What DY said. DAT/Transcore requests my renewals annually. Supposed to help keep some of the scoundrels away.

ITS somehow added themselves as an additional insured on my policy without my permission and I got a bill for $25 on my policy then a month later they removed them selves. Not even subscribed to them

Did you tell them who your ins co was? If not they must have looked your MC and called the company. I have and agreement with my broker that nobody gets added unless they check with me first.

Why are you paying $25 to add an additional insured in the first place? Those are some nickel and dime agents right there.

Thanks to all. I was afraid of some kind of abuse just as Derailed stated. Do they need to know all my details .... I don't think so. Do they need to know that I have insurance maybe but since you have to supply a certificate to the broker anyway I just thought it was out of line. And the threat to cut me off just left a bad taste in my mouth and I hoped it would make everyone aware of the problems of giving out all your info.

I agree, it's progressive. Only ones who would work with me in NY as a newly established authority.

With 22 years experience? That just seems odd. Well hopefully you can find an agent that can get you some respectable insurance like Northland soon.
