I was making a temp permit for OR today and there is new rule, now they charging you deposit each time around 100$ or more, depends on the mileage, until you'll pay 2000 bond for each truck!!! Is that f..ng real?? There is no way to avoid to drive through OR sometimes. That's looks insane.

Yeah, I went on a rant about this back in 2013, I still think it's B.S. and I have paid all of my escrow in for over a year, and still have not seen my "refund" just another government agency that wants to "hold" MY MONEY!!!

I remember one year our Iowa permits expired March 1st but they weren't even issuing the new ones till May 1st because of some change in their system. We had to buy trip permits even though our application had been submitted. It's government, it doesn't have to make sense!!

If I get it right over the phone, they told me that I won't get my bond back!!

I just stay out of those states. I can't see being forced to pay a bond for no more miles than I would have run in their state. I know that some may have little choice as to whether they will run in Oregon. I just avoid running in the state. Other states have weight distance taxes and carriers can pay the states when they file their quarterly returns. I don't see why Oregon doesn't do like the other 49 states and collect fuel taxes at the pump. It would make a lot more sense and make it much easier to pay and collect.

If they're making you post a bond for a temp permit why not post the bond and get an annual permit for $8. If you pay your miles on time after a year you can get your bond money back.

Oregon started going insane in late 2013 that's why I just set up permanent account there in 2013 and my insurance agent posted a $2.000.00 bond for $200.00 a year but now they waved my bond. so I just pay for the miles I drove each month.

Just pisses me off that THEY chose not to be on the IFTA program and then YOU have to jump through hopes and tie your time/money up because they think they are special. -
I can see your point there. OR can be a pain but now if you don't have any miles to claim there you can file online. Only time you mail a report is if you have miles to pay for. I haven't been to OR for over a year and a half but since I've paid my bond before I keep my $8 annual fuel permit as well as my extended weight permit just in case.
My bond only cost me $200 through my insurance company back when I did it so that's something to keep in mind when you're buying a trip permit and paying your miles up front.KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this.
