Feel terrible for those guys. That truck never seemed to run right; it never got the mpg it should. I hope Bruce & PP stand behind their work.

As for KR, he has a lot of good information, but I give absolutely zero weight to any recommendation he makes regarding his "industry partners."

The past & present list includes:

    Airtab
    Bose
    Con-Way
    Counteract
    DAT
    Evans
    FASS
    Fitzgerald
    Fleet Air
    Landstar
    LIPE
    Maxwell
    MD Alignment
    Mercer
    Michelin
    Microblue
    OPS
    Pittsburgh Power
    Polaris Labs
    Rand McNally
    RigDig
    Road King
    Smart Truck
    TST
    Turbo3000

Some of those companies I use & recommend, but don't expect anything just because KR recommends it -- do your own homework ("do the hard work")

    Lifted from that facebook page.......

    "Technical update:

Corrosion has so degraded the head it will have to be replaced.

A final decision will be made Monday if the block is salvageable. Because the block was counter bored to receive the large inserts we have to see if the new inserts will fit properly in the block.

    Liner protrusion:

Several issues were encountered when liner heights were measured.

Background: Detroit liner protrusion spec is .0005” to .003” above deck height.

    Two liners were installed “####ed.”
#1 cylinder was flush with the block on one side while the other side was .001 below deck height.

    # 3 cylinder was .001 above deck height on one side while the opposite side was .003 above deck height.

Three sleeves were installed at .0005 above deck height (this is the lowest acceptable protrusion recommended by Detroit).

The remaining sleeve was flush which is below the minimum acceptable limit of .0005.

The block was counter bored to receive the large inserts… so the block was properly prepared to accept the inserts."

I wonder if he'll show up here to defend the truck....?

So who built the engine? Fitz?

I called them one time and did not get a good feeling from that conversation. I think I will get a glider with a factory warranty 2004 engine and add my transmission and drives.

No if you read the spec sheet on the facebook page, the truck went from KW straight to Pittsburg Power for their Detroit 60

PP built the engine, the owner of the truck even has pictures of PP building the engine. The failure of the engine should be entirely on Bruce and his crew, they tore down the motor, installed the upgrades, sent out the cam and other parts to MicroBlue, then reassembled it. I think Bruce will stand behind this, but he has yet to comment on it.

I agree! PP probably has insurance to cover stuff like this. Hard to believe the corrosion in that motor in such a short period of time. I thought about that Evans but decided against it. Seems to me they should be kicking in some funds also.

I agree Admiral, Evans should have some liability for the corrosion, if you go to the Facebook page the pictures of the corrosion are incredible. IMHO, Pitsburgh Power is experiencing growing pains, since the California emission rules have sparked a new interest in glider kits Bruce has added staff and increased his volume of work significantly, all while trying to redesign his products to be EPA compliant to settle with the government. Before he "was on the map", he could do a much better job and had much more attention to detail. Following the Facebook post on this truck, they have had many little problems right from the start, including a bad clutch, some wiring issues, and other minor issues that indicate a lack of attention to detail in the build. He has a good reputation and I doubt he will let this be the truck to ruin it, there is way to much public attention on this one failure, situations like this make or break career reputations.
