Has anyone used DriveWyze ? I tried it and I only got 3 bypasses when the stations were open , I know it has to do with participating locations etc. I am trying to justify paying for it in my budget. How well does Pre-Pass work and is it worth paying for as well?
What states are the best & worse for using these tools and why ?
Would you recommend these tools when working under Landstar or Mercer ?
I'm looking to run the east coast mid west corridors mainly , come out west only if I have to...
some input would be great

I have PrePass and it works good. It can also be a bad thing if your companies CSA score is crap.
OONewbie Thanks this. -
Drivewyze here. Company driver for a safe fleet. Could not control the poop-eating grin as I legally blew past the Stillwater, MN scale the other day, while absolutely every other truck had to go in. Guess DW isn't that popular yet, and there is no prepass in MN.
Same story in VA. I overheard drivers talking near the scales pointing out that their prepass didn't go off at all, either red or green. Going down and then up I-81 in two days, I got the bypass signal at both scales, both directions. All but one time I was the only truck bypassing.
Your bypass rate on DW improves as you go. Early in my 30-day trial, I hardly got any bypasses. By the time it was over I was getting bypassed most of the time. Some states don't like to bypass, mind you. Georgia comes to mind immediately. I have yet to get the bypass signal there.randomname, RedForeman and OONewbie Thank this. -

There is no difference between the two. The scales DO NOT favor one over the other. The fact that someone got a green light and others did not means NOTHING at all.

i too did the 30 days. and got green everywhere. once i subscribed. i got red everywhere. so i don't even use it anymore.
since utah is the mostly used state. i called tech support and got told there was a technical issue with the state. 4 months later i tried it again and still get red everywhere. even in nevada where there is no bypass. green at first. nothing but red now. i have no idea what nevada is using for a transponder though.OONewbie Thanks this. -
I turned in my prepass because I have a big zero inspection report. So I they have me flagged as no green light pass. Just simply bypass the scales as your prepass on another route.

I have prepass. It is under $15/month with OOIDA... With my recent clean inspection, I bypass more than 9 in 10 open scales -- the only times I'm really pulled in I see everyone getting pulled in.
Being out of WA you may want to look into NorPass -- that's what OR uses exclusively. WA and ID use it as well... Otherwise prepass covers the most states for otrrandomname and OONewbie Thank this. -
Prepass is $2.50 a week at Landstar. You can also get the Bestpass if you'd like giving you Prepass, tolls and norpass all in one unit. I think I'm going to go this route myself.
OONewbie Thanks this. -
I have prepass and the only quirk I was warned about was that most states will red light you the first time you go there in order to get eyes on the truck. That turned out to be true, and it's worked fine since then. We're a 2 truck carrier with a good safety score. It's not perfect, however. Georgia, our home state, is well known to set their prepass to "all trucks in." Since I own the account I can run reports to see it. So I can usually count on a red light in GA. I've noted nothing special in VA. I get bypassed there usually, unless I roll across the weigh in motion heavy. Although it seems like one of the I-81 scales would not give a signal now and then. I think it was NB at the 149 if memory serves. Of course no signal you just pull in like someone without the prepass. Despite the faults and some states not using it, well worth the $14 bucks a month to have it.
double yellow, OONewbie, randomname and 1 other person Thank this.
