I have my own truck and reefer, both ca legal, does anybody know of an honest company anymore that you can make a living with your own equipment . Would get my own authority back but the insurance is out of sight! $20000. Per year! I live in Georgia and like to run long miles, mostly to west coast of possible. Thanks

You could check out Fairchild Freight Services. I drove for them for a year and they have plenty of owner operators running for them either leased on or under their own authority. I know still at least 5 owner operators that work for them right now and one has multiple trucks. They have all the info on their web site.

Sorry, don't know anybody down South, but I cross docked several fish loads out of Alaska with Fairchild that went to Atlanta, GA.

I run for GreatWide. Percentage based, they get 25% you the other. All loads come from load board. Not bad to start with. Do a Craigslist list search. You'll find plenty.

The real question is why the $20,000 a year insurance quotes......

Might check with RE Garrison, also in Cullman. Don't know much about them but see them running west a bunch.

Give Farm 2 Fleet a call also. From what I gather, you basically run like you have your own authority. Pretty sweet deal!
