as long as it's not a binding contract. i.e.- I can bid on several loads without having to wait to hear back on each one, then I like it.

Much like brokers do now, sorry, loads already been covered. I need to be able to say, sorry the trucks already been covered.

If I have to stand behind any offer I make and wait to hear back before making another offer, then it's terrible for me.

Just another version of "U-Ship". Broker will hold load as long as possible to find cheapest truck. We are our own worst enemy most times.

I refuse to give "Bids". To many brokers that don't know what there doing just look to the driver to do their job for them.

Example: Just other day, 90k lb load, 60ft L 11ft W., right up my alley, he want's a "Bid", I instantly bow up, then he says "This is for all 3 of them"...huh..I ask him what he mean's? 3 loads?, no, all three Graders on one truck. Really!?!? and you been doing this how long?!?!? it went down hill after that. IJS.

If you watch the video it says "not binding" until you have your usual rate confirm. I like it. I bid on a lot of freight. I don't understand the hostility to bidding. You are bidding on loads every time you call asking them or they call you. You want to do it quick and painless instant message is a great tool that cuts out wasted phone calls and time. Of course they are going to jump on the cheapest bid. That's what they always do. Maybe they use your high quote to quote a profitable rate to the customer then find a cheaper truck. That's how it has always been. Quit being timid about your quotes and have at it.

One of the issues with bidding (cheapest rate aside) is broker wont book the load until the very last second. Then you have to haull ### and get your truck in there in time for them to be bale to load it. I like the old fashioned way of negotiating where the broker knows where he needs to be and end up paying the right price for the services hes getting.

It's not necessarily going to change that. You're still going to have brokers that know where they need to be working with carriers in the range where both want to be. It's just another tool.

How is it working out? Do they respond at all to your bid? Do they try to negotiate at all with your offered bid? I mean, if I throw a bid out, how long should one wait for a reply?

I don't even bid on my 'outbounds',,, I get enough e-mails on 'ready' moves via customers......

Now my inbounds..I don't waste any time with brokers ..I know how they like to "get down" I throw a quote,He/She has a matter of minutes to send an RC.....They have time to play,I Don't

In this Game..time is short and crucial.......I understand some of you guys like to Buttercup up to 3pl's and make some sorts friendship with them....They'll turn on you in a second

Always said 3PL's and brokers will throw you under a bus in a second. But I still prefer working with them. Good relationships with them do matter. It's the point of they will call you even though they know you're not the cheapest and they do have cheaper options, sometimes. Some stuff never goes on a loadboard. Never even comes close to it.
