I have two invoices that are out 80 days from the time of being invoiced. At what point do you file against a broker's bond. What are the steps to take to file against their bond?

If their phones have been disconnected, I'm filing at day 31. If they answer the phones, acknowledge the debt, but don't have payment yet -- I'm filing at day 60. If they've been in business forever and have a history of slow pay, maybe I give them a little more time.

As for how to file, go to: http://safer.fmcsa.dot.gov/CompanySnapshot.aspx

Enter their MC# then click on licensing & insurance:

    Then click on HTML:

On the next page click on "active/pending insurance:"

Then click on the surety agent:

Then call the phone number and ask how to file on the bond & what documentation they require.
