I just bought a 03 Kw T-600 with a C-15. Its previous owner told me he used to put 8 gal of Mobil Delvac and 2 gal of Lucas. What do you think about that mix? what type of oil do you recommend for this engine?
Advise type of oil for a 2003 C-15

don't waist the money on lucas. two gal. is a little extreme. I use to just put a 1/2 gal in when I did an oil change. then the price went up. cant justify the cost anymore.
Cetane+ Thanks this. -
Lucas is a waste of money. I ran Rotella 15w40 for a few years in mine then recently switched over to NAPA store brand 15w40 because it was cheap. Picked up a dozen 5 gal.buckets for $50 each. One oil is as good as another. Change it and the filter frequently and do regular samples every time you do. I dump my oil every 12,500 miles. Some people go less some go more. I think CAT says 300 hours is when it should be changed. My belief is changing it often is the cheapest over haul you will never need. But guys say it is wasteful and crazy. That's OK it's my money, my truck, i'm the boss man.
dieselfuelonly, ampm wayne, MZdanowicz and 1 other person Thank this. -
Straight Mobil Delvac should be all you need, there is more than enough protection in any oil made for diesel engines. Do regular oil samples and be sure your not getting any fuel dilution or antifreeze in the oil and you should be fine.

Do you know what the viscosity of Lucas Heavy Duty oil Stabilizer is? 110 Cst @ 100 deg C.!!! By comparison 40 wt or 5/15W-40 is around 14-15 Cst @ 100 C. Even 250 wt gear oil is only >41 Cst @ 100 C. So your average viscosity running 1:10 lucas/15W-40 could be well into the 20s @ 100 C.
I cant find the original article that I got this info from. I keet this little tidbit of info in an oil info document to remind me to never use .... -

Everybody I know is running Delo 400 premium (including heavy equip), if the motor isnt on its last legs then Lucas or Power Punch is just a waste of money IMO.
If you have a weak power steering pump, a lot of times that lucas/PP will lengthen its life.MZdanowicz Thanks this. -

Delo 400 here also. Our two oldest trucks have 1.8 and 1.5 million. PM every 15 to 20k.
Walmart has it for 11.93 per gallon. Tractor Supply for about 13, TA for 19 doh!MZdanowicz Thanks this. -
I actually have a 2003 kw t600.. Recent overhaul. Put delvac 15w40, no Lucas. Like said above, change it at regular intervals and change filters. How many miles on your truck?
MZdanowicz Thanks this.
