I am well informed about these engines and anybody that owns a Century with a Detroit Engine EGR (I supposed it's a Detroit DD15 2009 model) that check engine comes because the turbo that uses today to burn that soot and regeneration BS makes that turbo run a high like an jet engine. That high pressure creates a signal from the computer diagnosing very high pressure inside the engine. This happens mostly going up on hills and that check engine light comes and goes away as soon that you take the foot off the accelerator and slowly press it back to speed. My Mechanic explained what has to be done but that is something you are going to have to find out your self on the streets. As long that it is not the engine protection that shuts your engine, you should be fine.

thank you very much the engine is a series 60 515 HP 14.0 thats what the tag on the engine says and it does what you say but it does not shut the engine off

The Century should have a display with buttons that tells you stuff like mpg, oil temp, trips info and lots of other things in there. It does have a diagnostic selection that will read back what the codes are if they are active.
I had a bad coolant level sensor do a bit of that once. If the display happens to say coolant level and you know the level is good, then you could just unplug the level sensor on the coolant tank, you'll get a check engine light stay on, but it won't shut you down,
But try to catch the codes first, it will read them when it is actually happening if its not in the history section. -
Oh 14.0 515, that's a powerful engine! I wrote on the email to pump to 500 but I see it's more then that. Yea follow my recommendations and YOU WILL PUT MONEY IN YOUR BANK ACCOUNT, NOT THE TRUCK PARTS DEALERS AND FUEL COMPANIES!

I moved this to the garage section for you. Many of our members only look in the garage section, so hopefully you will get more help in here.
25(2)+2 Thanks this. -

Unfortunately you may need to take it into freightliner and put it on the diagnostic machine. They usually charge around $150.
