I've got two deals, to buy a 2006 Century with 900k miles on it, CAT C-15, twin turbo, 475 HP, 13 speed no major repairs, replacements for $20k. The other deal is a 2005 Volvo with 900k miles, Cummins ISX, 450 HP, 10 speed, rebuilt engine for $30K. Which one do you think is a better "deal"?
Should I buy 2006 Century or 2005 Volvo

If I buy Volvo truck, they offer 1 year warranty for the engine in the shop and one month for the other parts.
-
If that's your question, you should consider going back to company driving.
Joetro, rexmanno and Clasix1055 Thank this. -
I want to get the Volvo, I think it's a better deal, but I want to hear different opinions to take them in consideration too.

Joetro Thanks this.

I'd say 20k for the century is a little high, offer 15k and go from there. have the cat dyno done and see if you can get an oil sample done. IMHO I'd trust the cat with 900k more than the rebuilt ISX, a good cat should go 1.3 to 1.5 mil. Also how did you get down to these two trucks? There isn't any comparison between them, and there are thousands of trucks on the market to choose from, you might want to look at truck paper and yes you might need to take a week off and go on a road trip to find a good one. Just remember the more work you put in ahead of time the better your chances are to find the right truck at the right price for you not someone on TTR. Good luck

I also see you have been in trucking less than a year. I strongly recommend not buying a truck until you get more experience under your belt or you will be out of businesses before you even get started. Do alot of research on what it takes to be an O/O. I bought my first truck last year,it was an 06 columbia with about 950k on it and even though I did check it out well when I bought it, A truck with that many miles are going to develop a lot off problems, thing I didn't have much of a clue about because I was a company driver for 32yrs and never had a truck with over 500k on it. And when someone else picks up the tab for everything it's hard to grasp the real cost of things. Just give it some thought and keep us updated, there are a lot of people willing to help on this board so don't be afraid to ask.
