Had a broker call me and ask me to run a load of steel shavings. 2.65 a mile roughly 450 miles.
What would you ask them?

"Is that round trip mileage?"
"How much better can you do?"
"if I hack a bunch off my rate will you meet me at $xxxxx ?" -
First, the end dump is kinda a specialized trailer, so your rate should be more than the flatbed rate you posted. Now are you hauling 80K or less, if more weight then the rate needs to go up. Steel shavings are likely to spontaneously combust, so make sure your insurance is paid up. What kind of facilities are you going to at pick up and drop off, is there going to be wait times to be loaded/ waiting to dump? Is it a scrap yard, if so you are more likely to get crap in your tires.

Not a fan of brokers in the dump trucking world. Only thing I'd ask them is "Are you gonna kiss me too?"

id ask them if that rate they quoted is supposed to be a joke. in dump trucking i wouldn't even consider 2.65 per loaded mile.
Foxcover Thanks this.
