The only thing worst than splitting a big tractor apart is splitting a dozer. Hurry up and get her back together so you can come down here. My kittycat needs new finals and a total under carriage rebuild. . And it's sucking the oil from the rear and dumping it in the tranny.

Last tractor I split was my ####shutt 570 diesel and it would not slide back together no matter what we did. We fought it until we finally decided to give up for the night. Grabbed a beer and leaned up against the rear tire and it popped back together.

    We really drank after that.

We have a splitting stand in our shop.Basically a track system on wheels, bolts to the front half of the tractor.Roll it apart,do your job,and roll it right back together in the same spot. Can also be used for pulling axle trumpets off big tractors too, like a 1586 and such.

I really want to buy an excavator but I'm afraid I'll get a expensive lesson on how to rebuild one. Spyder I didn't even know that could happen

I built a splitting stand like you're talking about. Block the rear of the tractor and roll the front away. Its always worked well but this one fought me for some reason.

A little off topic but I thought I'd show a pic of the only red tractor we have on the farm. Its a 2+2 like Rank posted just not quite as nice. Its hooked onto our manure spreader. I snapped the pic after I got done cleaning barn tonight.
