Well I didn't bother posting this in Trucker Taxes ? because I know I will get a Quicker Response here, since all have Bought a Truck.
O.K.,just wanted to know ? Can you still be EXEMPT from The State Sales Taxes, when Buying your Truck ?
Even though you ONLY Have The ' Letter of Intenet to Hire ' Letter.
I've been told Yes ? Just as Long as you can use the Company's D.O.T. & M.C. Number. ( and make sure you have Insurance to drive off ).
Is this Correct ?
Are there any States ? that say You MUST Be Currently Leased On to a carrier,to use the Sales Tax Exemption.
Thanks.

I just filled out an ICC exemption form. First load was interstate. IL to FL. Bought my truck before I was leased on, just had approval and orientation setup. Send ICC exemption in with title to state and no sales tax paid so far.
-
yeah I think you just fill out the exemption form long as you have ov3er 26000 gvw and your using truck for interstate hauling think rule of thumb is you have to spend 80% of time out of the state you reside in

I read somewhere your first load had to be interstate. I don't know the laws. I'm sure it's different state to state. Every state has a DOR office you can call and ask away.

Was at my local tag and title service the other day,and the head guy said as of July 1,Md. is going to start charging sales tax on tractors,no exemption. If you're titling in Md. you may want to check it out.Just what I was told.
