hello all,
i need to add 2 trucks to my fleet. i have 5 trucks all in the 2006-2009 range w/ c15 engines that run Chicago-FL, average GVW 70-75K. after running the numbers i've decided to lease brand new trucks from the big yellow leasing company w/ $0 cost maintenance/repairs versus buying.
i've narrowed it down to 2016 volvo 670 xe isx 455hp ishift and 2016 casacdia evolution dd15 ultrashift. seems like those trucks get the best MPG these days and leasing cost is about the same.
i just can't decide between the 2 as i haven't driven either 1 yet. any opinions? what are your experiences with these trucks? MPG, comfort, ride quality?
thx
Volvo 670 XE vs Cascadia Evo. which 1 to lease?

For the best ride, shifting and pulling power , the Volvo no questions asked. The only bad thing about the 670 is very little space. If you want a spacious truck with decent pulling power, I would go with Cascadia.

Fuel wise you would probably get the best fuel mileage with the cascasdia and more storage room. But hands down you gonna get a better ride out of the Volvo hands down.

thanks!! both of you are making this a moral issue for me now, save money on fuel or give my drivers a better ride

its not like 670 is a small truck... and ishift is better

If possible go with the 780, same as a 670 only some more room. Nice riding truck.

thanks for the input

Whats the best engine to look for in Volvo's
-
I had a cummins in mine and it was flawless. D15 if you get the Volvo engine. It has the best power . d13 too underpowered IF you get the 780. The d13 is ok for a 670 but I wasn't too heavy when I used it. I think it's a cummins isx but I'm not sure. Get the 13 speed NOT the 10. You'll have a better time with it on the hills. The Volvo will feel a bit top heavy if you get the condo version but you'll like the space.

Little old but figured I'd give you my 2 cents as a company driver in a Volvo. The Volvo has a much shorter wheel base than a cascadia and pulling a utility trailer with a TK it can scale 46500 pounds full of fuel. I keep my fifths wheel one hole from the front and have no problems scaling. I am almost always loaded heavy. By that I mean 74k or greater. This is a 2012 with the d13 motor and it is great. Each quarter ends with me between 7.3 and 7.5 mpg using the 9 speed transmission. The 9 or 13 speed is the best in my opinion as you can get top gear fully loaded in only 7 shifts. Less shifts equal better fuel. I have been over Vail, up the grapevine, through Tejon Pass, and over Donner in this truck fully loaded and have no complaints about power. Volvo also has a great engine brake. If I were to get my own truck one day; it would be a Volvo. And this one is just a standard fleet truck with duals and 3.42 rears. The only fancy enhancements I have are trailer skirts and a bunk heater. Forgot to mention this one is rated 425hp and 1550/1750 eco torque.
