Hi all i havent posted in a while been busy working

Well heres what i need help with, today my truck started drinking More diesel than ever and acting funny
    Specs 12.7 detroit 470,13spd,3.55 rears,22.5 rubber,

I have a air leak under the sleeper in the airbag for sleeper, went to international dealer,KW,Peterbilt,Truck Pro,kessler,Napa you name it i called and went spent all day wednesday looking, any way im local a container yanker, yeah yeah i know spare me the rod heard all the stories no one could find it finally called international dealer in Lafayette,la

even my local dealer kept telling me,the airbag had to be modified and installed after because it wasnt poppn up in there fancy computer,

coincidentally another driver comes in the dealer with exact same year, exact same problem, they told him the same told him the same thing, dont have part number cause they dont see it,finally after harassing the lafayette office the finally called me back, the tech said he had to talk to a old school mechanic who told him the part number so now im waitng to see if its the right part,STAY TUNED!!!

So today im going up a pretty steep bridge in 9th gear, keep in mind i have a 13 over,i have 13 spd where once u flip the side switch,if u ever slow down the truck has to come to a complete stop,to switch back over from low gear??i wonder how many old school heads remember this or how they used to do it?

Yall still with me good, NOW Normally i get around 5.5-6 mpg, well now im getting a embarassing 4.19 mpg yes and truck is running Crappy as heck with and without a load, without a load im getting around 4.30mpg,keep in mind all this just started yesterday,

i checked my oil thats good, oil pressure running is about 50psi,coolant is around 180-185 not running hot, belts are all tight,im hearing a ticking sound coming from under neath somewhere,a mechanic friend rode w me and said it sounds like a exhaust leak,if i crank the truck up you wont hear the ticking once the engine gets to normal operating temp i guess, thats when it starts ticking,if i rev the motor it ticks louder but goes away thats in neutral, but if im driving the ticking is constant, not sure if thats the 100% problem, but my other buddy said he had the same ticking and it was his air to air had a hole in it,loosing power bad fuel mpg and a whole in the turbo and he had white smoke coming out the stack, and he was getting 2mpg replaced it $1100 so any ideas as to where to look?

As im driving it staying around 55-60mph and when i press the pedal for more throttle and power it does nothing doesnt wind up more or nothing stays at the same speed, running real sluggish i had to come up a small bridge in 4th gear today, its gotten worse for crying out loud,
a buddy told me if you put up a rag to your condensor and its sucking it up,you have a hole somewhere

So tomorrow we are going to examine it further, any ideas will be appreciated
    Man i need a DRINK:biggrin_25512:

Fuel restriction or boost loss is my guess change filter as for ticking
That goes away at times sounds like a tappet might need overhead
Ran that will. Help fuel mileage as well can also tick at turbo benge plate
Which won't open until warm this can also hurt fuel mileage if it gets stuck
To check it spray with penetrating oil and use a rubber malett to see
    If gate moves free

Sounds like a fuel filter, just change the primary and take it for a spin befor you do anything else

    DetroitSpecial Thanks this.

Check fuel lines and fittings for sucking air.

Cracked exhaust manifold can cause a ticking sound and low or sluggish boost which equates to lower mpg

What i also noticed is,i haave fueled up in the past 34 hours, but i put more than enough to complete my route,my low fuel light keeps coming on even though i fueled up,so i went and looked on the passenger side and i believe i see my floater kn that side, now that side is lower on fuel than the other side, could it be possible that the pump is on the passenger side fuel tank and since i didnt fuel that side in a while i only used the driver side assuming the pump was on that side and assuming the cross t was open pulling from both sides?

Since you @ ipogsd and @old man suggested fuel trouble, that could that be whats going on what you think? I will definitely take off fuel filter and see whats going on,And @ magoo68 i think your right on i will let you know my findings once day break, thanks to all whos helping on.

That changes everything you have a colapest or twisted line in the left tank this is
A common issue that happens to Volvo trucks allot but can happen in others as well
U need to do a fuel pressure check to be sure and to test your crossover
Try putting air pressure on right tank to see if left side gains fuel to be sure of even fuel level
This is a cheap alternative before going in a shop
