I used to drive a 2013 and liked the truck and the D-13 engine. The one I drove was set at 500hp and had the I-shift. Good on fuel too. When it was new it had a couple sensor issues, but not sure if this one has been affected by the bull gear recall, injector cups was another issue some of them had. Also it is close to the age where egr valves and coolers failed at the other company trucks as they got those miles. We seemed to have coolant leaks that was an o-ring at the water pump.

A friend of mine runs to Alaska with the same set up. D-13 500hp and 13 speed. He had some issues, but the Volvo dealer in Prince George, BC is top notch and they fixed all the issues under warranty.

I second the injector cups issue, but once it was addressed it has continued to run very well. I am told the price is a "tad high" so I am guessing that is 5 to 7K high. Call and ask if they have the repair records and would be willing to fax them to you before you make the trip to see the truck. Then take the records to your Volvo mechanic and have him look at them. There might of been something repaired that would be a red flag to him, or a warning that something else might fail and how much that would run you to fix.

I second MOBee... ask for repair records... Since Volvo has a monopoly, records will be pretty easy to get... When choosing a used truck it is pretty much like a box of chocolates.. You never know what you are going to get... Just make sure if you buy it and doesn't perform like you want too sell it. Please do not sink money into it.. Been there, done that...

Yea MOBee, I have been looking at a few 2011 and they are about 15 - 20 k lower with almost the same millage so I think you might be right on the tad high part.

No matter what I do buy I will be paying cash for it. 50 to 80 k is my price limit I dont want to go to much higher because I want to have some money for any kind of problems that might come up.

Why would it not be good to put money into something like a 2011 to 2012 truck ? I thought the bull gear problems had been fixed?
