    Yes, sfi truck prices are crazy! But their used fleet trucks are dirt cheap. Luke about $15k for a used pumpkin truck with 600k miles. Not that I'd ever buy one.

    I am guessing the guy does not have good enough credit to go to his local bank or std lending places. So a premium is what he is stuck with for having crappy credit.

    I'd suggest saving up and buying used with cash ...... but this country revolves on payments now a days, so I doubt it will happen.

    A good friend of mine ran for Schneider about 10 years. He started there as company driver and bought a truck through Schneider Finance. He bought new, but in researching SFI used trucks he found out why they are higher priced. They send out all those trucks to their respective dealers in the area. They have them thoroughly gone over and everything fixed. Their reason is they do not want any new L/P or buyer to break down in their first year ( if possible anyway ) and that break down cause them to fail or opt out.

    Do they still actually do that anymore with the trucks? I don't know.

    the guy I was rooming with for orientation had his truck financed thru schneider. it was a centry, fairly decent sec with a tripack. his payments are $495 a week

    I have a hard enough time keeping up with my $1050 a month

    he didn't tell you that $150 of that goes into his general fund for maintance tho. And if for some reason he doesn't need it, he can always pull from it.

    I opt'd for $250 a week to my maintance fund. I will leave it at that till I get about $5k in there, and then just go to $100 a week......

    back in 2004 when i was on truck rail with my FLD (which was paid for) I put $500 a week into my maintance account. I didn't use it for almost 2 yrs. Then in 2006, I pulled all but $3500 out and used it as a down payment on my new house. Worked out well for me LOL

    I've got 5% going into mine. when I get things caught up a bit i'm looking into their health insurance and then if I still have anything left i will up it to 10%. I do most all my own work I can't justify paying shop rates when I'm capable regardless of how lazy I want to be

    I do all my own work too, but when was the last time your rig broke down while it was sitting in the driveway??? Mine neither, it always takes a crap when you are 800 miles from home and the only thing around is the dealership with $115 hr labor rates and they have to overnight freight the #### parts

    I generally always manage to get it home. Radiator blew and I nursed it for three days and got it home. Starter crapped out and I paid a flatbedder to pull start me and I drove it for a week not shutting it off and got home. VPOD went bad and I drove it at 35mph for two days till I got to a good shop I knew

    I guess you are just lucky then. My radiator went out and I just had DRC ship me one to where i was at and put it in while out in the parking lot at the TA in Ganado, TX.. everything else that ever broke was something I couldn't make it home w/o fixing like a snapped driveshaft, 2 broken shocks and the best of all was when my steering box fell off going down the road on 59 outside of Victoria. I pulled over and walked a mile back and it was gone. You could see the marks in the pavement, and the oil spot from where it was sitting on the shoulder but somebody much have picked it up before I could get back to it. #### mexicans

    No it won't, but it does explain why Schneider Finance prices are higher on their trucks than others, which was the intent of my reply.

    There is nothing at all stopping any truck from having a serious breakdown. A company I ran with for many years had a new truck with less than 25k miles on it. Rear end went out in it. There was plenty of warranty, but that didn't stop it from happening.
