I'm currently with Schneider driving mid-west regional and am a TE as well. I've been thinking about going to the choice lease program. I've talked to 3 different lease drivers and they all have good things to say about it, but I figured I would come here and throw my question since I've always gotten good responses from this site. I've got no problem running hard, hell I used to come home 2 days a month and averaged 3k miles a week as OTR, but I'd like to be able to run easier then that and still make a good living. I live in Kansas City so getting runs through the house shouldn't be hard I would imagine. I've been driving company for a little over a year now but the owner/lease side is completely unknown to me. I've heard horror stories from TransAm lease drivers (I used to work for them company side) and other companies and am really skeptical about ANY lease, but I would love the freedom to pick my own load and actually be able to call the truck my own. Anyhow, my question is, what questions should I ask when I call to talk about their lease program? I don't what to walk in ignorant and happily sign away my families future. What should I know or be able to do before I commit to the lease/owner side of driving?
Thanks for the time and replies I'm sure I'll get!

Any new updates? I just submitted my application and was wondering how the lease side is now?

But it is still a lease for people with no money or credit so it is expensive. You have to go at it with attitude that you are going to run your but off. You are spending 3-years on the road to get your truck. You have to decide if that is worth it.freightwipper Thanks this.
