Your Own Authority?

With fuel being what it is right now it's not worth it unless you have good contracts with a Fuel Surcharge. Trying to negotiate a Fuel Surcharge over a loadboard is nearly impossible. Brokers know that some small company will take the load without a FSC eventually.

Like Matthews has mentioned it is a lot of work and not something that would be recommended for someone brand new in the business. You will definitely need some capitol, but if you can get it done then you will definitely be making more money in the long run.

 

I will add you must have your own trailers, else, you are still mostly captive to somebody.

 

does the truck and trailer need to be registered in your name to obtain everything necessary to become an o/o?

 

so when you first get your first truck as a o/o it is good to sign on with some one authority

 

here is the scenario...

truck is owned by my brother and at the moment the truck is just sitting. my cousin, who has been a company driver for about 8 yrs, is looking to go o/o with his own authority.

question...

can the truck, whose pink slip is in my brothers name, be used so my cousin can get everything involved (ins, 2290, ifta, irp, bit, etc.) to go o/o with own authority without changing the pink slip?
