With a Star you either love em or hate em.

I hate em, but my neighbor is such a star fanatic that all he will look at when he buys a "new" truck is a star.

Come to think of it I'm not much better when it comes to a KW. ;-)

Well I have quickly read this post and though I have been away for a while you have to consider one fact as an O/O and that is resale. It all comes down to dollars, your dollars. I too looked at Freightliners but I went with my Pete. Resale is what seperates them by far. As an O/O you may say you never plan to sell etc but the fact still remains it will eventually happen and what vehicle holds more value at the end even though underneath they can be #### near identical, motor, trans, axles etc, the name on the hood pays more at the end. I also run a 53 reefer (Utility with a TK SB310) and I can haul 44,500 with just under half tank. I also have a lot of stuff on my truck as far as personal gear and I am thinking of buying a rider electric pallet jack, will add another 1k to my empty weight but I am seriously thinking about my down time on deliveries. If I can eliminate my waite once I am at the dock by unloading and breaking down myself (besides putting the green in my wallet) I can slow down a little more for the time saved and increase my fuel economy. I am not very happy with my economy but I think there is a problem somewhere with my engine. I already had the cat converter replaced, both turbos and a few sensors but my mileage no matter if I run 70 or down to 60 is still averaging about 5.5 when I think it should be closer or into the 6's. Anyway, I am certain we will find out where the deficiency is and get it producing better..... As to my point of resale, I plan on running this truck for 6 or 700k and if it is still in good shape, I will inframe it and keep it but if technology advances and they come out with a motor that gets on a bad day in the 7's, it will be sold and I need to get my money out of it for the upgrade.

The problem lies in the restrictive ### turbos, manifold, and retarded timing in ecm, change those and you will get better millage, there nothing wrong with your truck, after all it is an ACERT and you do have a automatic. I really dont see the 387/T2000 bringing top dollar at trade in, maybe just a couple thousand over a shaker, check out truckpaper, i was bored one night and was surprised how cheap they're going.

It is a good truck, just have to wear a towel on your head to drive one, especially if its a CA plate [IMG]
