    I'm not knocking the troops here but stating what has happened on a couple of bases I delivered to or pickup at.


    In their personal vehicles military guys drive just as bad as any other 4 wheeler. And just as disrespectful of trucks.

    The problem I am starting to see with this deal is the deadhead may be pretty severe at times. They have AAFES warehouses scattered around the country, but it may be a long way from the base you just dropped at to get back to a warehouse. I don't have all of the details yet, but from what I understand it is all one way, power only hauls. You grab a loaded trailer at the warehouse, drop it at a base, and bobtail to the closest warehouse to get another load.

    Well one plus thing I could say it's consistant work, I'm stationed at a tiny tiny base right now and trucks drop off 2x a week. I can only immagine what the delivery schedule for a place like Ft. Hood or Ft. Campbell would be like.

    Had the broker even offered twice the amount he quoted me, plus the actual FSC, I would have at least gave it some serious consideration. Is there no end to the Greed!

    That was a long time ago and I don't remember what I did with the info I had on the company. But a bit of googling on AAFES and Waco may get you some results.

    Must be a different military than the one I was in. The Post Exchange and the Commissary were not always located in areas that offered much more freedom of movement in a truck than the typical retail outlet off base. Sure, the road thru the main gate might be nice, but where you deliver is not always off the main road. And many military bases don't have tanks and those that do usually do not allow them to run up and down the base roads thru the housing area and main post area where the exchange is located. Sure, there are a few around that have nice big roads leading to the post exchange.... Fort Riley comes to mind. But There are one heck of a lot of National Guard type posts, like Ft. Dodge, IA, that are limited in scope.

    Oh well, doesn't matter. My truck will never go onto a military installation. I did my time and have no desire to ever be on a military base again.
