You don't have to run coast to coast to make money.

Some of the Regional Work, local work sounds appealing, but I know I will always miss the road. After 13 years, 10 running 48 states & Canada, and 3 running local/Northwest.......I can't seem to really stand the local driving on the same routes and same customers every day.
I am looking into buying my own truck again, but can't come up with any real money up front. My credit is too beat up to look for loans. I have to consider my only options are the Leases/Lease Purchase from the companies. I have read all of the horror stories and am well aware of the immoral/illegal companies leasing trucks out there. I just wonder if there are a few who are trying to do the right thing on these lease purchase programs?

you don't have to go with company lease. there are several lease/rent/purchase companies. One from MS keeps calling me they are offering free tires, towing and bumber to bumper warranty for life of lease. One in TX say's "we'll finance anyone". Have to be better than the rip-offs of going through a company and you can take it to any company you want if it doesn't work out were you L/O with.

Just becasue its "legal" doesn't mean it's safe! I know when I need to sleep and when I am safe to drive. Fight the HOS. Write your Congressman.

There is no such thing as a "BACK-HAUL" everything has a start and stop point, If it needs to be moved then it is a load, period. Insurance, tires, fuel,etc... aren't any cheaper heading towards your home than they are going away. BACKHAUL is BS.

I also been looking for an easy in and affordable finance or lease option. I've put many hours into it and pounded many calculator keys trying to find a fair one. To date I haven't found one that isn't akin to a financial enema. 30% is a bargain in the buy here-pay here big rigger financial world.

If and when I find one that's a reasonably balanced deal I'll be sure to post the info. Until then I'll continue to work on repairing my credit or find a good deal on a truck that can be bought for about the amount of the down payment on the typical bad credit finance plan...

I'm still debating whether or not jumping on my approval from Selectrucks. It's an 03 Columbia, 13sp, 2.93's, 430 DD, 1585.00 for 37 months, 14.5% interest. Calculator wise, it'll make a little more than 1200.00 after expenses per week. But real world could prove to be different. I need to do something though, I've been out of work for a month.

What price and type of trucks are you looking at?
Try looking at a cheaper truck to start if you are having credit troubles. Buy a 25k truck to start with.
