Ah! Yes! Good catch BHW.. Seems we posted about this not long ago

Just becasue its "legal" doesn't mean it's safe! I know when I need to sleep and when I am safe to drive. Fight the HOS. Write your Congressman.

There is no such thing as a "BACK-HAUL" everything has a start and stop point, If it needs to be moved then it is a load, period. Insurance, tires, fuel,etc... aren't any cheaper heading towards your home than they are going away. BACKHAUL is BS.

I have had contracts ranging from 0 pages to 18 pages. Any contract that is heavily weighted to the broker gets thrown out. And I have marked up my fair share of contracts with stuff no reasonable person would agree to. As an example, as a carrier, I will not agree to waiving any rights afforded under Title 49, nor will I agree to wording that states I will pay for any legal bills incurred by the broker related to the haul. I also cross out wording that says the broker has the right to hold payment due to cargo claims. I've seen some real humdinger contracts out there.

I think the term "back haul" should be thrown out of the truckers dictionary. It's one of the most useless terms I have ever heard.

TX Proud - I will keep those things in mind about the contracts. I am making notes of things as they appear in this post or even printing the posts so I have the info for future reference. These forums have been a wealth of info for me already, and I keep learning more.

Exactly!

That was how much Intransit screwed out of me on one of their loads I hauled. Them taking over 50% of the rate, that I found out about.

I also got jacked out of $4000 on a load out of Detroit to Denver. Shipper filed BK the day after I loaded, the day before I delivered. Never got a penny of the freight money.

Its high time that we all throw away the jars of Vaseline, and stand up for our selfs.

There needs to be a place that we can report these people, or at least have them audited.

That's just flat out rude, inconsiderate, and mean! I could say some other, more choice things, but I will behave myself! I can see why so many drivers have a bad attitude about brokers. Glad I was raised to be hard working, honest, and ethical!

Not to be disrespectful of anyone here, but I do have a question. Other than Brick's BK issue, what is the relevance to what the broker was paid on the load if you agreed to haul it for the rate offered?
