Yeah, most the guys run fast. LOL And the fats is where they load heavy. Its nothing to be 92k with a load of fats.

Ill have to look in to getting my own authority, cause im just about done hauling this cheap frieght. Also he quoted me about $ 3.80 going out and $2.15-$2.50 comming in. dont sound bad. As far as long night during the summer and long and long days in the winter.... im doing that already, hualing J.I.T freight. Any other feed back would be greatly appreiciated.
3.80 is high, more like 3.20 on the high end. And I wouldn't touch a cattle load a 2.15. Remember, your going to be burning a whole lot of fuel. What percentage are they talking about taking from you to broker the loads??? Also, ask them about dead head miles. Also, are you pulling their cattle pot, or getting your own. They aren't cheap, when you get a good one.

A friend that does this told me to get my CDL and do that in the spring and fall, haul grain in the summer, take winters off.
The broker usually carries cargo insurance, at least ours did, but with what he skimmed off of us, we were paying for it anyway.

Its hard to switch back and forth, unless you get a broker that is into both types of cargo. Bull hauling really happens all year long, there is no break. There are busy times and there are slower times, but in all reality, there's loads all the time. Most brokers have contracts with the slaughter houses, and you will haul fats in the winter and the summer. Spring and Fall are usually when you haul the feeder loads.

Hey all. Glad to find this topic. I'm in Alabama, and likely it's more "me not knowing" where to look than the info not being out there, but how do you find regular shippers and/or companies to lease on with? Thanks.

How common for it is to have a cow drop dead in transit? And why do they? Only thing I can think is that it's alot of stress on them and maybe their hearts give out.

Its pretty common on super hot days. They are so packed in there that they cannot stay cool. The stress is definitely a factor.

I feel sorry for the poor things. Another reason I don't eat red meat, and trying to get away from eating meat at all... Go ahead and call me names, it's just my view on things.
