Buy From Trucking Company or a Dealer

When considering becoming an owner/operator, would it be better to do a lease option with the company you are working for or would you be better off finding a descent used truck at a dealer. Any input would be great.

With the trucking business being in the shape that it's in right now, I think you'd be a fool to do either one. Keep your company job, or start looking for a better one. But either way, let someone else pay the bills on the truck.
There's a joke that goes "Wanna know how to make a million in trucking? First, take 2 million dollars...."
Sure I drive a company truck, and yes the company does suck buttermilk thru a short straw. But you know what? I can walk away anytime I want to.

To answer your actual question. There are too many trucks available on truckpaper, ebay, autotrader and such to go through a company. if you need to lease a truck due to your personal finance there are companies out there for that too but right now the dealers are begging ppl to buy One company called me with their lease purchase saying they now offer a bumper to bumper warranty, towing and tires for the life of your lease purchase, 3-5 yrs. A company lease still think their trucks are worth new truck prices. PM me if you need specific sites.

Just becasue its "legal" doesn't mean it's safe! I know when I need to sleep and when I am safe to drive. Fight the HOS. Write your Congressman.

There is no such thing as a "BACK-HAUL" everything has a start and stop point, If it needs to be moved then it is a load, period. Insurance, tires, fuel,etc... aren't any cheaper heading towards your home than they are going away. BACKHAUL is BS.
