Hi Self Its Time for a Surprise Drug Test?

Um so I am applying for my own authority to offset any issues with my future small time operation (rather just do it now then need it later to tow 26002 lbs and not have it), and apparently I need to set up a drug testing rejiment for myself... hmm this seems kinda weird, how do I exactly surprise drug test myself? No seriously... how do I meet this particular requirement? It says I have to randomly test 1/2 of my drivers, well crap I like being a whole person! If me and my hubby are driving, how would we meet this then? Anyone else got advice here?

1/2 your drivers onece a year means you take a drug test every two years. That's what we did but I think now they press that random part of it.
There is drug test pools you can join. it puts your name in the computer which randomly spits out names to be tested.

Any links to such, the regulations are amusing me to no end, things like "The carrier has in place a recordkeeping system and procedures to monitor the hours-of-service performed by drivers, including procedures for continuing review of drivers' log books, and for ensuring compliance with all operations requirements."

Yeah... cause I do them myself??? lmao

can't help with the links.

most the time companies with there own authority have more then one truck. that's what the regs are written for.

you also need a plan in place for disciplinary action for log violations and drug test violations too

when you get your authority you will get a preliminary dot audit. if you are missing something they will let you know

In 2006, when I had my authority, I joined the local truck association and became part of their pool. It satisfied the requirement.

Also an Idea see if your local community has a small Trucking group. Here where I live they have one which runs a random Drug test program for all the Granite Companies that own their own trucks.
