the one sitution my girl and i keep talking about is disatnce, we live in va
and ofter check load boards, there are loads that start and stop in va,
is staying within a 1000 miles, (or basically in state) going to be a good way to start? we are planning on power only

I am going from hear say from a previous employer. I was working for a lady in Atlanta area who was doing this, well her and her brothers. Power only is hard to do and make money. Problem they had was they had to return the trailers, and was having to deadhead to much. Not saying it can not be done, but hard.

There are operations out there for power only. I have a friend that pulls for merita bread, power only. Its a drop and pick set-up always pulling their trailer so no deadhead.

The only dumb queston is the one you failed to ask.
Just becasue its "legal" doesn't mean it's safe! I know when I need to sleep and when I am safe to drive. Fight the HOS. Write your Congressman.

There is no such thing as a "BACK-HAUL" everything has a start and stop point, If it needs to be moved then it is a load, period. Insurance, tires, fuel,etc... aren't any cheaper heading towards your home than they are going away. BACKHAUL is BS.
