And then we had PA gov Rendell on TV yesterday claiming how his state is the only one this yr to run a surplus instead of in the red like those losers in CA...... ummmm yeah governor you might want to bone up on your FACTS a wee bit before you go on world wide TV and look stupid. Check on WY's budget surpluses before you make false claims. Quote:

| Are you under an old lease? My understanding was the new contracts had the % broke down to tractor and trailer seperately for all trailers. I pulled a company van for a few weeks and they wanted to charge me %. Under my contract I ended paying the weekly rental. |

Dry van pays 65%, they keep the 8% for the trailer but you don't pay anything above the 65% for a trailer lease. If you look at your statements you'll see that the trailer makes much more that $600 per month and they keep it if you pull a dry van. If you Pull a leased Flat or step you get the intire 8% and they deduct your weekly lease rate of $150. You 8% per month is going to be well above the $600 that you pay to lease the trailer. Does that explain it better? Can be a bit confusing. If a new contract makes you pay for a dry van then I'd quit pulling a dry van. The rates are the lowest anyways.

| Friend of mine left landstar about 8 months ago and he pulled their flat, he got the 67% from the 98% deal. As far as making more money, no thanks, i do all right with what i do, and im sure i make more than any landstar deal, yes i work hard but i make out very good..... I saw his settlements, the guy worked hard and i really didnt see anything special about the money he was making.

He didn't know how to read his settlement. Platform paid then 75% of 98%, and they took off weekly trailer payment. If he was getting only 67% some thing was screwed up, cuz that is not the contract. If he left wagons and went to flats they might not have changed his %% and its his fault for not getting it straightened out.

| Actually he left the skate behind and went to vans, since up here where we live there is more and better paying freight in the vans division, or so he says. They did a lot of auto parts crap with the vans, dedicated crap.

They are quick to make corrections when you owe them money. LOL I have heard that new leases have a different contract than mine. But I heard they were getting 9% for a new Flat or Step lease for the new hires.

| hi all,i am new to register but have been lurking here for a few weeks. i am wondering what landstar pays for having truck and trailer(flatbed) thx |

meaning you don't get paid xtra for owning your trailer you just don't get a deduction for not owning it.
