And, actually, use more than may be needed. Building materials, like lumber and even steel, are somewhat basic. Get into odd loads or machinery type loads can be tricky. Be sure to absolutely prevent any possible movement fore and aft as well as side to side. Go by the FMCSA regs for tiedown strength/ capacity vs. load wt.

If you haul anything on tires or that can roll tie it so it can go up and down but not forward and back or side to side. If you haul anything with a suspension tie down the axles and let the suspension work.
