I was once told that insults and false accusations were always used to push a point that shouldn't be made in the first place... As you can see I never said I was an O/O for 28 years. I said I was driving for that long. actually 27 years 9 months as of 2/12/09. "Rookie"? yeah, in that aspect. "stupid"? "maybe" for carrying on this discourse with you.
I also said that a reserve could be had by living a bit frugally at times. "IF" the figures are right that would be about $1000/mo. until I was satisfied with the amount saved.
Gee I sort of thought this site was to gain intelligent insight into a venture BEFORE it was undertaken. Not to through insults and false accusations.
Thats EXACTLY why you can't get accurate info on the C.B. anymore. Most folks with good sense keep it off until they need it for just that reason.
Hey Medman do you remember Carl Subler drivers?
Another thing about Starport Transportation... They don't advertise very well. I have difficulty just getting them to call me back and their website is outdated. They sure don't seem all hyped up to sell trucks. Say nothing about get on a truckers forum site to try it.
SO, calm down dude. I didn't come here to try to intimidate you and/or insult your intelligence. I would appreciate the same respect.

Crosswind, If you think the numbers will work for you, then I say do whats best for you. I just think leasing a new truck is not a ideal time unless you get a carrier/broker that will keep you moving. My cousin is a O/O and he is parking his rig. Anywhere from week to a week an a half every month, because its so slow right now.

Don't take what MM or I said as a insult. It just seemed a little out of the ordinary with your experience asking with those numbers. The truckers report is a site for questions and answers. We are all here to help each other in this industry.

You don't intimidate me. I'm mearly trying to stress the gravity of todays trucking conditions. I have friends with half that payment who also live in there trucks and also have few expenses that are having a hard enough go of it.

I've been here for a long time and have to hear all the sob stories about guys loosing
everything due to these bottom feeders.

Truckingisnt what it was. These new ttucks aren't what they were.
Your jot going to get a million trouble
free miles anymore. These new motors are trouble. There is guys who have trucks in th shop a week a month.

Do your numbers allow For that down time even if it is under warrenty?

a week of downtime would be brutal in a lease...

all my payments combined are 1/4 what that lease is and im having a real rough time out here

    Crosswinds,
Did you sign on, if so with who? Who did you lease from (Starport) and who do you drive for? Just curious to see how it is working for yah, and get some real feedback. I do hope it is going well for you.

Wonder if anybody else has gone the Starport Route, and who they may have signed on to pull for?

Hi Medusa, are you still around? Haven't posted since May I see. I was wondering about your friends who signed on with Starport Leasing, who you said were doing so well. Any updates? I'm considering Starport to lease on with Megatrux. Thanks!

896 a week for 5 years is $232700, check your math.

41027 a mo for ins? someone is getting a nice commision check.

But I say go for it, it works on paper, why not in the real world?
