Who is the highest paying of ALL types of loads right now?

Running on one's own authority, with one's own 53' Dry Van (can be swapped for something better), with one's own truck. Could be HazMat of ANYTHING... please, help me out here.

Does anyone know of a company that is hiring for around $1.25-$1.60/mile?

    Companies don't hire they contract.

Who or what? The best money is in heavy haul, AA&E, some trade shows, defense contractors, something specialized.
Problem is one man with one truck is not even going to touch those contracts, you don't have the resources or finical responsibility to get your foot in the door.
$1.25 with your own truck, trailer and authority is way to cheap

If you can tell me how to get $1.20/mile I would flip! If $1.25 is cheap, then what do you think my deal is? I am pulling around $0.95! Looking at going under, actually. Getting about $1.25 is a big deal. My dad drives the truck, and my cousin unloads. They would be homeless without me paying for the truck, but I am not able to do it anymore.
I have my own career, but have been spending much time to try and study the market. Right now, I really have nothing. All I can really offer is tickets to a boxing show that I fight in. If anyone can refer me to a company that pays out $1.25+/mile has earned a fat check. I'm not joking, here.

You can do better than $1.25 leased to a % carrier, but $1.25 and carrying all the liability is not good. Freight rates are depressed right now and until all the carriers taking the cheap freight either quit or starve out things aren't going to change.

How in the world can I swing that??? I was starting to wonder why there are so many trucks on the road. If all of them were getting under a dollar per mile, I know there is no way they would be on the road.

I've literally got about 2 months before bankruptcy because of all of this. Dad is talking about "giving up on life." I really wish I had never done this. Willing to do anything to correct the problem.

In a way this is great news. Any carriers that will take someone who has 4 traffic tickets in the last year?
