see I go and take you off ignor to see why your still posting on my thread even know you know I can't see it. And I have to see this one fuel tank ####...

the truck just needs a transmission and 4 drive tires. Other then that it's 23 years old and there is always going to be small things. that's what you get with no truck payment. the motor runs good, it's supposed to have about 135k on the rebuild but who knows. fuel pump and injectors were new when I bought it.

oh ya, I'd replace the fifth wheel too, it's got some slop in it.

serious questions are one thing but I'm in NO mood to have my chain jerked right now

Could you provide a good guess on how much it would take to replace the tranny and 5th wheel?

Fifth wheel about $500 and tranny from a Tampa parts yard, with a 6 month warranty, about $1800? You asked for a good guess. I gave you an educated guess.

unloaded this morning after a great day running yesterday. After 15 minutes I smelled gear lube so I got to looking and found a puddle about 6 inches wide under the front of the trans. I had a thin stream coming out. It tapered off the longer I sat there. Don't know if that is because I wasn't running so there was little oil on the front seal, or if it means i'm out of lube.

either way, I can't fix it. cant replace a seal in a trans that worn out since that's what ate the seal. and I can't afford a trans.

I've got no load, sitting in Midland TX about 600 miles from home and don't know if I will make it when I do find a load.

I can get into the new truck cheaper then I can buy a reman transmission for this one but I still have no money. The house note will be current on wednesday (with the next one due right away) but all my funds have gone to catching that up, I have none for the downpayment
Pack that SOB with grease and drive it till it blows.

I know your kidding. He should park it some place and take a bus ride home. It sounds like it's in bad shape and if you take a load you risk breaking down under load or being put out of service at a weigh station. Either one of those is going to cost you a butt load of money.

Doesn't anyone have any common sense? Now I know what you named this thread the way you did.

this is TX, we don't have weigh stations. it's not that bad right now but I know what it's leading to so I'm going to get it home while I still can.

I told everyone at the outset this was a failing proposition. If it failed I had nothing to loose, if it succeded it was a miracle. Truth be told. I was unemplyed so I drove the truck for two months, I got my bills caught up and i'm back to unemplyed if I can't work out anythign else to do. So i'm right where I was or slightly better off then when I started
