MM, I'll give give you some tips on how to do better than average. Don't rely on the board 100%, call 5 - 10 agents in the area you are headed to. Introduce yourself by name, and tell them you are LS. The good stuff never is posted and they would rather make one call than post a good load and get 100 calls. Some will take your info and call if they get something, some will nor bother. Keep a list, you never know what you will fall into.

Don't give shipper and receivers a bad time, call the agent, if it is their customer direct (not brokered) they will work out the problem.

Don't book ahead, the good freight comes in and usually loads the same day. Anyone can book cheap stuff.

Find a few logistic straps and furniture blankets, you might be surprised what they will get you.

Buy you own trailer, I assume you pull a van, a $8000 trailer will make money, you don't need new.

You will probable get screwed around by a agent sooner or later, just mark them off your list and move on. You may have some loads cancel on you, it is because the broker or 3PL found someone to do it cheaper so they can keep more, it's just a sign of the times.

Always think abut LTL's, some pay almost as much as truckload.

Good Luck

U are on your way man.

All you need now is a block of Stolen Cheese and you will be trucking like the Cat Boy.

Good Luck
I agree with you on that point, I have obtained several this way. Mainly because I was terrified of my new (old) truck having a major breakdown, so am waitinng wait until I have delivered the current load before looking for another!!!LOL! It has worked out great.

I've got 5 inches of fuel in my tanks and $100 in my pocket. I just got my signs and permits now I'm just waiting for a trialer, hopefully I get one before I run out of fuel
dont worry about your fuel youll get card loaded right away and have a little left over.MAKE SURE YOU GET A LAPTOP AND DO YOUR LOAD ALERTS
these are a must have...
youl b ok but your going to have alot to learn with l/s like others said dont always prebook your loads unless they pay and ALWAYS get your card loaded b-4 you commit to a load...i have 3 phones, you should have at least 2,one for personal calls(so you do not miss a load alert)1 just for load alerts(my 3rd phone atomaticly rings when my load alert phone is busy)
dont be fooled by the northeast freight it pays well on the miles but the fuel and tolls and deadhead will kill you...imo
