MM, I've followed this and other threads about becoming an O/O as opposed to following the company path and all it entails.

Last year at this time...I would have told anybody that buying a truck was totally nuts.

Now....I've been through a 10% pay cut...a 50% reduction in hours and I'm looking to buy a truck and a trailer. I just might be nuts. I guess I've got company.......HUH?

My reasoning is simple. If I'm going to go broke in this business, I want it to be my fault and not the fault of the company that I work for.

It's very difficult for me to look at myself in the mirror and know that I haven't given 100% because somebody else is telling me that there just isn't any work today. Or dispatch is running their favorites today and I'm sitting home.

Hang in there MM. To some of us, there's a glimmer of hope in your efforts.

Since you seem to have a few minutes spare time, did you pull the expansion vavle and check for crud, especially the little screen at the fitting to the expansion valve?

I've checked the system and it all seems clean. I havn't found anything in it anywhere. Only place I haven't looked is at the under bunk slave unit. But I didn't blow the compressor or anything either, I overcharged the system

BigRed you sum it up pretty good there.

I've been dealing with a finance co today and it actually sounds like they may approve me. The probem is this is a company that sells off old fleet trucks. I filled out the application back when they had some nice TMC T800's but now all they seem to have is centuries and volvos and no way i'm buying a volvo. I need to talk to the salesman, my buddy says they may have some repo's on the lot other then what they have listed for inventory right now

Hey Al, Good luck with that.

Remember, its a path to the 379X so whatever it takes..

On a lighter note, i got home to find absolutley NO work..
But i recieved a phone call, and looks like the truck might have a permanant contract in a few weeks.. might make it easier to sell...

There's nothing wrong with a Columbia...as long as it earns you a living.

Personally, I'd love to get a W-9...but I'll take just about anything that's the right price for now and worry about my dream truck a bit later in the game....say in a couple of years.

I'm not saying I don't have standards........It's just that they're a bit lower than the last time I went truck shopping.

My absolutes are NO GREEN paint.....anywhere on the truck...no Blue or Black either. Green and Blue are just bad luck for me.....Black is too hot in the summer.

Truck also has to have enough leg room for me.

A Volvo isn't totally out of the question......but it is somewhere near the bottom of the list when it comes to choices in my book.
