I wouldn't haul lime for nobody. It's cheap and you usually from what I have seen it includes manual labor with a shovel. I seen one truck that raised his dump and the left side fell and the right side didn't and over he went and another that didn't slide at all and they had to shovel some of it.

Local guy out bid a some others on a lime haul then tried to get everyone to help him but they refused. First load he went to dump in a field and layed his trailer over and totaled it.

I just think it wouldn't be good on a hopper and what about warranty on a newer trailer.

I only hauled rock one time back in 1991 with a new Jet steel hopper but I was just a driver. It was winter time and I hauled it 100 miles and it froze by the time I got to where I was delivering it. We could not get the doors open. The next day after we got it unloaded and repaired on of the doors I told the boss I would quit before I ever hauled rock in a hopper again.
I've known some guys who haul rock in hoppers. It was hard on doors and the flooring. I don't haul rock in mine...I think it is just too hard on the trailer. I'm pretty sure it would void a warranty on any trailer.

Big John do you have one of those slick liners in your dump? I never had one when I dumped but would make sense to me.

I would think end dump or a live bottom trailer. If it is anything like wet DDG that would be what I would use.

    I would agree with that.

You must have smart hopper drivers there.

I have heard live but never been around wet so wasnt sure of the consistency and wasnt sure how it sit in the trailer. would be nice to have a live floor and haul seed corn and silage, make a little extra coin!

Ive seen a couple guys haul road stone in hoppers..... bad idea, beats the heck outta the floor and messes up the rivets.

Id think the poly liners for the end dump would help a ton hauling lime. ive seen the guys fighting it that delivered to our farm. kinda felt sorry for them....

No, we haul alot of scrap steel, aluminum and stainless so I don't think that would be good on one.

Yes, I believe it would be very hard on one. Never thought about hauling that in a diump. That is one nice thing about a dump...can haul about anything. How long is your dump?

The only problem about live bottoms is their weight. They are a fairly heavy trailer.

    40'

I have hauled everything from scrap, sand, rock, old bread, tile, corn, pellets, baseball infield dirt, clay, melted aluminum that are the shapes of hockey pucks, etc... I can haul alot of different things and unload faster, I like it.

I figured you had a longer dump trailer. Most of the local dumps aren't that long. Seems like most of the OTR dumps are 39' or longer. Shouldn't have trouble with the bridge as your truck is fairly long too. Quite a few of local dumps have spread axle also.
