Hopper, Dump O/O's & Drivers

Wheathauler, I traded a 48x96x72 for a 50x102x72 and i haven't seen any difference in fuel mileage. I've always got 4.5 mpg loaded at 96,000lbs but I can't keep my foot out of it. When I haul ddgs I start at the back of the wagon and fill it from back to front. first time I loaded the new wagon i was watching my gauge and it stopped way light on the front, got up and looked there was all most one whole bow less in there, that much more went in the back. Never thought it made much difference but it did. JD

 

Loading it from back to front is the only way I've found to get enough weight on the wagon. I fill the back hopper just over the bows and the front hopper is full going forward to just in front of the second bow, and that gets me just under 33 ton. If I get this gig going into KS I'm getting rid of the pusher axle on the truck and just keep the triple axle wagon.

 

Hi everybody. We've had excitement the last couple of days at work. The main scales are frozen so they've been weighing all the trucks on 2 of the pit scales. Yesterday afternoon a van going on the wrong pit took out the overhead door and a full wall on the pit house. This morning another dry van took out some cinder blocks on a different pit house. These guys have been lining up back to the guard shack. It makes it hard because I'm loading on the dryer side and dumping on the mill side and these guys block the drives. Alot of tight spots. It warmed up today so maybe we'll be back to normal shortly. This has been the coldest winter here anybody can remember.

 

Ya I live just a few miles south of you at Elgin. It's about 5 miles west of Tuckerman. This winter has been a dandy

 

I would like to find another 78 inch Timpte and stay home. But the last time I checked on a Riceland card they weren't is issuing any. But that was last winter. I think a man could watch bulk loads and take a good out to Hereford once in while and make it

 

Yep I know right where Elgin is. I used to go through there on the way to Charlotte and Batesville.
