Yeah, I got too close to the edge of a dirt road turning out of a field in Nebraska. Front wheel sank and set the front axle on the ground. Boss was mad, but only for about the ten minutes it took for him to come over in the combine and drag me out.

My trailer axle is the one that usually slides off the entrance way. Done it twice, now if I don't think I can get out I LOAD ON THE ROAD. Usually safer anyway and can usually haul more. Don't load extremely heavy when in field or I can't pull out...farmers put more on you when you're in the field seems like.

I think they are all used to loading grain trucks and gravity wagons and just cant grasp the concept of one pile in the front and one pile in the back

My dad is the worlds worst if I happeen to be doing something else and dont get back quick enough he will just fill it

now I have this taller trailer so i'm really gonna have to watch him or it could be bad lol

A lot of our fields aren't easy either. Culverts onto county gravel roads. Complicate that with all the water and mud that comes with rice and you really gotta watch what you're doing. We've had 2 trailers dropped off culverts in the last 3 years. Luckily it didn't warp the trailers and it wasn't me driving. Guy hauling with us last year had an aluminum Merritt that he dropped off a culvert and it was warped bad. Went down the road at an angle. Last year I did drop a front tire (actually the road caved in) in the ditch while backing off a county road into a pad. Boss pulled me out with the 8420 JD. You can't get on the shoulder of these co. roads where the ditches stay full of rice water all the time either. 2 local guys rolled last year cause the roads caved off. If I'm loaded the 4 wheelers just have to give way cause I ain't giving up the crown on gravel loaded.

I like that video. Looks like that combine is flying thru the field. That flat dry field is gravy to spot and load in tho. And how bout that straight pit shot with a spotter. I like those pits made 50 yrs. ago for small straight trucks. Some of those are fun to get on. I guess every kind of trucking has its unique challenges. Nice to have this thread to share ours. Another good day of rock hauling. I think we finally got that truck lined out.

every year for christmas we go to westplains MO to visit family and I see the rock buckets across from the mine. the trailers look to be about 18ft frameless.how can you haul any weight in those? I have thought of moving to AR or MO but didn't know if there was any work.from what I read here there must be.my trailer is a 32ft frameless. is that to big to work out of the mines around there? if i could find work I might just pickup and move. Wally there are some large trailers but the smaller predominate. The asphalt plants in Jonesboro and Paragould are the steady work but 2 outfits have controlled most of that for years. There are 3 pits around Black Rock. Vulcan, Meridian, and Capital. There are a lot of guys in the hills that own their trucks. Mostly straight dumps and smaller end dumps. Unfortunately there's not a lot of employment opportunities over there so alot of guys truck. I've hauled out of Vulcan and Capital and they're plenty big enough to get around easy in. I would have no reservations bout goin in with a 43 ft hopper if the need arises. I can get around these pits a lot easier than some of these ancient elevators and mills around here. The elevator at Light put in a new pit year before last. They put it right in the back of a triangle of bins between the back 2. You come in between 2 of the bins and make a hard right to hit the pit. You can spot the rookies quick on that serpentine s curve pit approach.
