What do companies look for in a rig?
I don't expect to be able, financially, to buy a rig costing what the new rigs cost anytime in the first few years over the road. I do believe that I will want to be an O/O as soon as I can. What do the companies require of their O/Os with respect to condition/mileage?

Varies with the different companies. I suggest you contact those you'd consider pulling for and ask them. Some will want 10 years or newer, some even 5 years or newer. Many will want to see your truck and go through it in their shop (inspection).

Also a lot of companies put weight requirements (such as under 19,000lbs. with 1/2 tanks of fuel) or length requirements (not over so many inches wheelbase, especially if they run Canada). Some companies (Fed Ex) even put color requirements. Point being between me and Gears, it all depends on what company you go to and what kind of work they do.

I know Fed Up is negotiable on color requirements but who the F would WANT to pull wiggle wagons.... damn things are a nuiscance in bad weather...

My advice would be to look for the truck that is going to be the most profitable, affordable, and enjoyable for you and the way you run overall, especially if you don't know where you're going to put it on.

Some want fuel efficiency of 6.5mpg or better. I know Midland of Canada wants your truck to be mint green with a stripe going down the center on each side. I know Prime has specific requirements for its o/o's.

A fuel mileage requirement? That's a new one on me, I don't know how they could possibly determine that beforehand. I get 9mpg bobtailing, 6.2 average, and I'm sure I could get that down towards low 5s, high 4s if I drove like an idiot and idled constantly. I doubt the OP, being from Mississippi, will be driving for Midland of Canada.

Try turning a 53' around on a dark two lane road and you will wish you had a set of wiggle wagons not to include get one of the 4 wheelers that want to ride beside you for 5 miles I never kept one beside me for longer than a min. just start wiggling them wagons and they will move quick fast and in a hurry and not saying they wont turn over but they are less likely to turn over that a straight trailer I Been pulling them for almost 20 years

Yes there are companies that require you to maintain a set fuel mileage and some also set you speed to company trucks (as low as 61mph) And I dont care if you speedo is showing 64 they can set that too
