AdBlue? What is AdBlue?

While browsing through a local book store (hey! I can too read books. Esp. the ones with big color pictures) I found an Aussie trucking mag. Inside I found noted in a caption something called an "AdBlue tank"? Just what is this and what is it for?

ADBLUE, its a brand name for the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) fluid used on euro trucks to meet epa standards.

This is the method everyone will eventually use to meet the ludicrous emissions standards, as it allows tuning for better fuel economy, and this stuff is injected into the aftertreatment device.

It's urea and will probably be used in 2010 diesel pickups and passenger cars . It uses about 1 gallon per 1,000 miles and will probably be available only from dealers. The Mercedes BlueTec diesel already uses it .

Thanks gents, appreciate the heads up. Farming friends ought to be overjoyed with the price of urea taking yet another jump soon.

We'll all be whipping up a team of Belgian horses before it is all done. O'course we will be responsible for their "emissions" as well. One way or another it's all horse sh1t.
