THE trucking industry says it is shocked by the behaviour of drivers on the Monash Freeway.
Police have issued a warning to the industry about speeding along the M1 upgrade, which includes the West Gate Freeway and CityLink.
A Victorian Transport Association meeting was told yesterday that police would introduce a massive blitz if the trucking industry continued failing to obey speed limits.
VTA chief executive Philip Lovel said the transport industry needed to get its act together.
"Many truck, and car, drivers are disobeying the speed restrictions without regard for road construction workers," Mr Lovel said.
"It appears to me that drivers assume workers are not on site. "This is far from the fact. They are probably working near or underneath the construction site."
