Lack of truck stops on Princes Hwy causes concern

Truck stops are lacking on the F6 and Princes Hwy and more need to be built to cater for the increasing number of vehicles travelling to and from Port Kembla, the NRMA and Transport Workers Union say.

NRMA Motoring and Services director Michael Tynan has called for more rest areas specifically because heavy vehicle driver fatigue reforms force drivers to take breaks or face fines.
"Currently, there is a serious lack of rest areas suitable for truckies along the F6 and Princes Hwy," he said.
"What good are laws if adequate infrastructure isn't in place for truckies to stop and rest?"
