I should have messaged you. I unloaded Thursday morning in Manassas VA, and spent the day at Toms Brook VA exit 291, just south of Winchester. I was doing some vampire work myself, picking up beer at 2300 in Elkton to deliver 0800 in Wilmington NC. Sent me home empty yesterday 284 miles.
Not too bad for first week back in TL; Mondy afternoon through Friday night 1901 miles.

I have what might be a stupid question, but couldn't find the info on Averitt's site. I'm thinking aout applying to Averitt, my concern though is time for Doctor or Dentist appointments. I like to go to my Dentist once every 3~6 months and my Doctor every 6 months.
Neither are open on Saturday. Does Averitt allow time off on say Mondays for such appointments? Thanks in advance.

Thanks Mustang! Not to blow smoke up yer butt, but your posts are what have made me consider Averitt (as well as getting back in a truck at all).

Thanks, but I'm not overly thrilled with the job right now. I'm back in truckload after 26 months on dedicated, although it wasn't anybody's fault. Averitt lost most of the Mercedes runs to Transport America.
But looking around, I know I can't do any better right now, especially in my area. So I'm just going to do my job and hope we can regain the account in six months. I suppose I was more spoiled than I realized.

####, sorry to hear that. I wouldn't say you were spoiled, by now you've surely earned it. It just sucks that times are so bad now that everyone, no matter what they may or may not have earned are having to suck it up and drive on just to get by. I hope you get that account or maybe even a better one soon.
Oops! just re read my post and it sounded like "Suck it up and drive on soldier". I assure you, that is not what I meant.

I don't get up to this forum often...You can take GT's and Mikes postings to the BANK....I've been with AVRT coming up on 9 years,I don't see myself leaving anytime soon. GT, we will get those lost accounts back....it's all about pricing...when the company that took it away can't do the job...we will get it back,as we always do!
Jeepman...Truck 13538...had her since she was new....will not even consider trading for a NEW VOLVO!

Hey, Jeepman, RR here if you haven't figured it out.
We had 28 runs and now only 8. I'm not a BHM driver so I relied on SC run to get me to and from Vance. We lost everything in the Carolinas. They took over the yard dog service a few months ago and were probably deep into negotiations then, if not before.
Our #1 seniority driver on dedicated jumped ship and went to Transport America. They were actively trying to recruit us from Averitt, promising us our old runs or better. I'm not jumping from the frying pan into the fire.

Transport America is a "Bottom Feeder" company, I'm not impressed with ANYTHING I've seen from them. They will screw things up,and Mercedes will come calling. Now that your back in T/L and probally on Electronic Logs, heres a tip, us the heck out of m7,when dispatched on something you don't have the hrs for. The planners are STILL having "issues" trying to figuire out the 11/14 rule, tell your flt manager what you can do up front, let them fiquire out on how the load gets delivered. I split log all the time, log off duty when ever I can get away with it and go into sleeper berth when ever I can. When I have to drive somewhere to get something to eat,or are in the shop for a extended time,I just log out of the computer. There are good miles out there, but there are times certians areas get over saturated with trucks. Good loads in my neck of the woods are ...Yuengling beer out of Tampa,Oil loads out of Tampa,Pool acid out of Palm Coast, Bridgestone out of Jax,Baker loads out of Jax, ceramic powder out of Jax. We lost the BMW account out of Jax come August to CEVA. There are cross dock loads that come out of CHR EVERY day going to Farmers Branch TX. There are some other things in the works...I really don't care for LANDSTAR pulling the GRAVY LTL freight. I'm still getting 1800-2800 a week,5-5.5 days a week. See you out there!

That's what I have been worrying about, like sitting all day waiting on a shuttle and wanting to bobtail to the Waffle house without interfering with my break.
Last week I emptied out bright and early after sleeping all night and got a 2300 beer load 81 miles away Fortunately I got to a truckstop for fuel and shower with time to start my 10 all over again. Never got back to sleep of course. That was Thursday night and it took me two days to recover. I don't bounce back from being up 24 hours like I used to.
