I did my phone interview w/Averitt hoping to hear back from them b-4 I go back on the road( would be easier to leave stuff @ home and just drop off truck after notice). It sounds like drivers are happy there. LOL I just dont know about shaving my goatee off ( I've had it over twenty yrs), taking out my earing and wearing a uniform( I dont look good in red>>LOL). But the company sounds good and it would be a 5.5cpm raise......so if you see a big bald guy with no goatee in a red uniform dont laugh pls...lol

I have a question for Fishersville drivers...I drive for another locally owned company and one of our drivers who use to drive for Averitt told me that he had quit due to the fact that he was not making any miles. The company that I am with now, I am getting anywhere from 2500 - 3200 miles a week, so I get an outstanding pay check. There are a couple of minor things that I don't like with this company, but that is not why I am sitting here typing this. The major question that I have for you all today is, are the Fisherville drivers making any miles? I don't want to leave this company that I am with right now and go to Averitt and then later realize I made a mistake. I have spoken to a few Averitt drivers and I get mixed emotions about the company from them. I have been in this occupation long enough to know that a recruiter is not going to give you the real skinny about the company. So come on Fishersville drivers, key up and let me know the true skinny about Averitt.:yes2557:

Question about Averitt. Can you not have a beard/facial hair? Based on comment about goatee from another post above.

I am interested but have a beard that I have had for years and will not shave. Guess that would be a deal breaker - hope not.

    Thanks.

You have to shave your beard if you come with Averitt. I think I heard that the only way you wouldn't have to shave is if you have a medical condition that restricts you from being able to shave. Not 100% sure about that. The easy answer is if you are unwilling to shave your beard is yes, that is a deal breaker.

My only complaints about Averitt is that their drivers drive like bats out of hades. Exceeding the speed limit even in 70 MPH TN. Every Averitt that I saw was being rude and hauling @@@.

I don't imagine all of them would be like that, but sure seemed like all the ones I saw on the road had a "lead, follow, or get the heck out of my way" attitude about driving.

Our trucks our governed to run no faster than 70 miles per hour. So that isn't true. As far as being rude, most of the people I run into from Averitt are very nice people. Maybe you are just making b.s. posts to try and tear Averitt down.

Now why would I try to tear them down? What I posted is the truth from my experiences. I even gave the ones that probably don't act like that the benefit of doubt.
Either a handful of drivers have been able to tamper with the speed limiter or you guys have O/Os, because I have been passed by Averitt trucks when I was doing 70 MPH. I know my speedometer was right because I checked it repeatedly against my GPS unit.

I'm not sure why you would lie and try to tear down Averitt. Maybe because you applied to work at Averitt and they wouldn't hire you? Who knows? Maybe you are going to try and recruit the guy who asked about shaving his beard so you can get some money for talking him into joining your company.

If someone from Averitt passed you when you were doing 70mph, then they were loaded heavy falling off a hill. You can only change these governers with a laptop and the password from corporate. It's computer governed. You must have Averitt confused with some other carrier because they just recently raised the governed speed from 65 to 68. For years we could only drive 65.

I am not lying. Only stating what i've seen on the road. There is no need for the attitude being shown here, (be careful you might just confirm what I said about rude Averitt drivers) :D :D I have never applied to drive for Averritt. I didn't need to. At one time I drove for Landstar, you can't get any better than that. I chose to quit OTR and take a local job to be home with my wife more.
