Oh yea, they are HORRIBLE for OTR drivers...for local drivers they are ok. I quit them after 6 months as I could not take their crap anymore. BUT, they are excellent at getting you in and making you feel like its the best thing you ever saw...until you actually deal with them. Averitt OTR is WORTHLESS...You WILL regret it.

I am supposed to start with Averitt in Aug, are you getting any miles? I live in KY. I've read northern states get more, but the recruiter told me they average about 2100.

Kind of late to tell you, but Driver Solutions is just another rip-off CDL mill.

I've been trying to decide which company that provides training I would like to go with. Schneider was ok, but 18 mo. commitment and 2 yrs. until you get $1000 extra paid in for school back is a bit much.
Roehl sounds really great too, but Driver Solutions uses the Lake Milton training school very near me and it would make things much easier. Averitt is one of thecompanies they recruit for and from what I have read isn't too bad. Question for you Averitt guys. I'm clean cut but you know, kind of the old hippe. I can shave Goatee, not a problem, I can wear uniform (eech) but not a problem, I can easily take out earring... but what about the tattoo on my forearm. Rather large, it ain't going anywhere, but it ends 3" above my wrist and with a long sleeve shirt is hidden. Is this a deal breaker? I find it hard to believe I've managed buisnesses, sold real estate and much else with no problem, but it would keep me from driving a friggin' truck? Come on. Please let me know whether to pursue working for this company or if I'm already counted out.
Thanks

Thank The Powers That Be

No, it's not. I figured that out myself! I'm scheduled to start Roehl training in Marshfield, WI Aug. 13th. If I change my mind on that, I'm got lucky enough to be accepted by MavericK and put on their waiting list and told I should go before the end of August. I'm glad I checked into companies and schools further after contacting Driver Solutions!recommend everyone else does the same.

Score one for the good guys!

Averitt, Big Turnover.

I have been with them 14 years. I am a senior shuttle driver and can say it has been a good company and has provided me with a good income and good benefits for many years. Now about the company as it is today, In the truckload division which is were you will have to start the turnover is much higher than others paying much more.

Everything I've gleaned from Averitt.
No facial hair without a dr bribe.
No visible tattoos, but that's not so true,
The pay scale is bad for OTR, especially if you compare it to the LTL division
HHG miles

Last relevant I heard was OTR makes HHG miles (so 10% off your miles) and generally 10cents less per mile.

Trainers 3100 mile/week rate guarantee[That is pay times 3100 + any over 3100). Seems like a good place if you enjoy training.

EXACTLY, I could only hold on there for six month as an OTR Driver. HORRIBLE for OTR Drivers, simple. I used to be 100 miles from my house on Friday night and they would send me 400 miles away from house (consistently) for 6 months, had enough...

Uniforms and being clean shaven didn't bother me. Tattoos - don't have any. The recurring topic both here and at CAD was lack of miles. If I want to sleep in a stationary vehicle, I can go out in my driveway and crawl in my RV

For better or worse, I am spending the next year with Roehl.

need for speed

All averitt trucks (daycabs) are suppose to be set at 68. Some go a little faster some a little slower. In the 14 Years I have driven for them I have had two trucks that went over 70. As far as setting the speed I can (and have) set my truck with my laptop. To get a code or password for anything is simple with the right program.
